Craigellachie: old fashioned even in 1891
Craigellachie 33 Year Old is a testimony to those who made the whisky over 33 years ago, and the teams in the warehouses who left it patiently resting for those 33 years. The casks for the bottling were selected by our malts master, Stephanie Macleod.
Nose: Beautifully balanced, smooth and rich with a swirl of smoke in the background. Papaya sprinkled with black pepper, coconut porridge with a lingering floral element: chamomile and rosewater.
Palate: A contradiction in a glass - elegant and refined yet framed by a muscular, almost bonfire-esque element. Flavours fold together: cedarwood, exotic fruits, a cereal complexity and rum and raisin ice cream.
Finish: Silky smooth with a lingering sweet almond note and a scrumptious creamy finish.
